Chery South Africa has recorded its strongest sales month of the year in April, with 2,462 vehicles sold across its local model range. The result was driven by another standout performance from the Tiggo 4 Pro, which recorded 1,871 units in April, accounting for more than three-quarters of Chery’s monthly sales.

The Tiggo 4 Pro line-up, which includes the Tiggo Cross, remains Chery’s best-selling model range in South Africa. Its April performance was supported by the recent introduction of the Tiggo Cross LiT, available with a choice of manual transmission or CVT, priced at R279,900 and R309,900 respectively.
Positioned as an accessible entry point into the Tiggo Cross range, the LiT offers customers a strong combination of specification and value for money. Standard features include LED headlights, a reverse camera, heated side mirrors and dual 10.25-inch screens, with the infotainment system offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Chery’s broader Tiggo line-up also contributed to the April result, with the Tiggo 7 recording 425 units, the Tiggo 8 adding 119 units, and the range-topping Tiggo 9 contributing 47 units.
“April was an excellent month for Chery South Africa, with nearly 2,500 vehicles sold last month,” commented Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for Chery South Africa. “It’s a clear reflection of the strength of our Tiggo range. The Tiggo 4 Pro continues to be our key volume driver, and the introduction of the Tiggo Cross LiT derivative has added further momentum to an already strong performer.”
April’s total of 2,462 units continues Chery’s steady growth in the local market. The brand recorded 2,258 sales in January, 2,312 in February, and 2,390 in March, making April its fourth consecutive month of growth this year.
Over the first four months of the year, Chery South Africa has now recorded 9,422 sales, with the Tiggo 4 Pro line accounting for 7,193 of those units.
“Chery’s performance in April shows that the brand continues to build real traction in South Africa,” adds Petersen. “Our focus remains on offering customers strong value, high specification levels and a model range that meets the needs of South African motorists. This includes our CSH hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, which form part of Chery’s continued expansion in the local market.”
